Beauty Trends – Spring/Summer 2012

Following on from our Hair Trends - Spring/Summer 2012 blog we now take a look at the most popular trends in beauty this season…hot off the runway! Again, there’s something for everyone, so ladies it’s time to update your looks and your make-up bags.

Below are our Top 5 picks for the hottest must have beauty looks this Spring/Summer 2012.

Bold Brushed Up Brows

Natural, bold brows are all the rage this season, so pack away your tweezers ladies. Brows can be filled in with a brow pencil to add an extra punch of colour and contouring. For an earthy look, match this with a natural/minimal make-up, or make a statement with brows darker than your natural shade.

 Fresh-Faced Minimalism
The minimal look was spotted all over the runway this season. To achieve a natural fresh-faced look, apply some concealer, tinted moisturizer that closely matches your skin tone and some peachy blush, keeping your eyes untouched and only a smudge of lip conditioner. Nothing can make a bolder statement than a beautiful fresh faced woman.

Colour Pop

On the other hand a pop of dramatic colour to match the happy mood of Spring/Summer can go a long way. This season offers an array of gorgeous tones to help you celebrate the sunshine, such as ocean blue, green, purple and violets. Pack a punch by generously applying the colour to the eyes, while keeping the rest of your skin and lip tones neutral, paired with a chic up-do.

Statement Lips

From boldly colourful, wine-stained to bright orange-red and glossy natural lips, you can achieve a statement look no matter what you choose. There is something for everyone with this trend, depending on how daring you feel, add a pretty pop of red or create a dramatic look by blending some blue tones to achieve the much talked about cool aqua lips.

Retro Glamour

This nostalgic look was a popular look on the catwalk at Fashion Week as always, but this time with an air of elegance and glossiness. This look is made up of several elements – red lips, coppery tones, feline eyes with curled up lashes, and don’t forget the vintage-style hair to match.

Blow at the Four Seasons Hotel Dublin

Today SalonAddict visited Blow at the Four Seasons Hotel Dublin where we had a good chat with Noelle, the owner.  Parking is available at the hotel but it is also very accessible by Dart and Bus.
To get to the salon you enter the main entrance of the Four Seasons Hotel and turn left at reception.  Walk to the end of the hall and take a left to the lifts.  The salon is on the floor marked “spa,” it is the first door you arrive at as you exit the lift.  The salon is very new and stylish and fits comfortably in the luxurious surroundings of the hotel.
How long have you been in business?
Blow has been in the Four Seasons for two years but Blow as a company has been in existence for 10 years.
How do you believe your salon is different from other salons?
We are completely customer focussed.  We understand the demands of the modern customer which is why we open 364 days a year.  We close for Christmas Day!
Also, we have no trainee staff,  all our staff are fully qualified and have plenty of experience.
Have you had any celebrity customers?
There are too many to mention them all!  Shakira and the late Whitney Houston are two that spring to mind.
How would you describe your salon?
Welcoming, Efficient, Competitively Priced!
What is the strangest/funniest customer experience you have had?
We once had a customer ring to book a Blow Dry.  They asked how long it would take.
We replied that it would depend on the length of their hair.  We wash the customer’s hair before hand and the length of time it takes depends on how long their hair is.
They sounded confused and said they had never had it washed before getting one done before which confused us a little.  They then added that they couldn’t understand that the hair length should matter.
This confused us even more until the customer asked; did I ask to book a blow dry because I meant to ask about a Brazilian waxing?
That took care of all the confusion

What is your top hair care tip?
To keep your hair in top condition you should get it trimmed every 6 weeks!
What is the most popular service at the moment?

12 week blow dries are incredibly popular - Click Here to Book 12 week Blow Dry

What credit card do you accept?
We accept all major credit cards
Have you ever won any awards?
Salon of the year, not once but twice!
What tea/coffee do you serve?
Freshly brewed coffee and a range of teas
What magazines do you get for your customers?
Current issues of over 20 magazines are available with Hello and Vogue available.

What products do you use/sell in the salon?
We use Wella for all the colours and shampoos as well as stocking GHDs and the Wella range for customer purchases.
Do you have Wi-Fi for customers? We do of course
We were in no rush to leave the salon or the hotel.  We even treated ourselves to some afternoon tea which was a great way to round off our trip (http://www.fourseasons.com/dublin/dining/lounges/lobby_lounge/)

Hairstyles 2012 - Spring/Summer

It’s that time of year again, fashion week is over and everyone’s talking about this year’s Spring/Summer Fashion Trends. It seems that this season’s catwalk looks are a mixed bag, from the overly dramatic to minimalist, but the great thing is that there is something for everyone.

Here is a round-up of the Top Hairstyles hot off the runway:

The Centre Parting
If you are looking for cool and casual with minimal effort, this is it. The 70’s inspired look is all over the fashion runways this season. This is a versatile look that is best worn with straight or tousled hair, but can also be tied up loosely at the nape of the neck.

Retro
These vintage-inspired looks were popular on the runway this season, with a modern twist. From barrel curls to finger waves and chignons, you can achieve a look to suit all occasions.

Romantic Braids and knots
This is not a new trend, but this seasons looks seem to be edgier. Twists and braids can be worn on a day out to the shops or on a special night out. Opt for the quirkier tightly woven corn rows, beehive twists or settle for the more simple side plait.

The Wet Look
This look proved to be popular at a number of the fashion shows this season. This can be a tough look to achieve without looking scraggy and over gelled, but when done right it can make a serious statement. As seen on the runway, the wet look can work with buns, ponytails or when the hair is pulled back and wet/gelled at the front.

Wrapped up
Head scarves were all the rage on the catwalk this season. This casual look can be worn on the beach or out to a casual dinner. These colourful accessories can be worn over a wet look or the retro curls to give it that extra flair.
